Fit for purpose or not?

Will the lack of exposure to the education system render the new Eastern Cape MEC for Education, Mandla Makupula, not fit for purpose? The Democratic Alliance is grappling with the question whether the new MEC is indeed equipped to fulfil all expectations with regard to educational matters.

Honourable Makupula has been entrusted with the task of improving the quality of service rendered by the department of education. Given the lack of background in the education system, the Democratic Alliance hopes that he will, unlike his predecessors, consult with those in the trenches of education before making important decisions.
