The delimitation process, i.e. the drawing of new electoral districts, is well underway and is expected to be completed by October 2010. These processes are the legal responsibility of the Municipal Demarcation Board .
The existing Ward 3 will be split into two wards, i.e. Ward 3 and Ward 8. The soon-to-be Ward 3 is expected to comprise Kabeljouws and Wavecrest, from A D Keet Street to the ocean. The future Ward 8 is likely to encompass the rest of Wavecrest, Eedenglen and Mondplaas.
Many voters currently residing in Ward 3 and who cast their vote at the Tecoma voting station will have to re-register in the “new” Ward 8 in order to cast their vote at the NG Church voting station. Every effort will be made to assist voters who have to re-register.
Plans are already afoot to ensure the ease of transition. Two weekends had already officially been set aside in January and February 2010 for the registration and re-registration of voters. Additional registration periods are presently being planned in collaboration with the IEC
